Service Description

How Cryotherapy Helps Pets in Rehabilitation Cold therapy to reduce pain, swelling, and speed healing Cryotherapy, or cold therapy, is a simple but highly effective tool used in veterinary rehabilitation to reduce pain, control inflammation, and support healing in pets. It involves applying cold to specific areas of the body, typically using ice packs, cold compresses, or specialized cooling devices. How Does It Work? When cold is applied to tissues, it causes blood vessels to constrict—a process called vasoconstriction. This slows blood flow to the area, helping to reduce swelling and limit inflammation. Cold also numbs nerve endings, providing natural pain relief without medication. After the cold is removed, blood flow increases again, helping flush out waste products and bring healing nutrients to the area. When Is Cryotherapy Used? Cryotherapy is especially helpful in: Acute injuries (like sprains or strains) Post-surgical recovery Joint inflammation (such as in arthritis) Muscle soreness after exercise or therapy It’s most effective when applied within the first 24 to 72 hours after an injury or procedure. Safe and Simple Cryotherapy is non-invasive, drug-free, and generally well-tolerated by pets. Sessions usually last 10 to 20 minutes and can be repeated throughout the day as needed. Your veterinary team will guide you on proper technique and frequency to ensure safe use at home or in a clinic setting.
